Nature Tour from Athens
A unique opportunity for travellers to combine nature observation with ancient sites visit. You will see Canals, forest, wildlife, lakes and museums in Peloponnese peninsula.
FIrst of all we will start from Athens. After 1 hour driving we will reach Corinth Canal. You will enjoy the breathtaking view of the Canal and take a lot of photos there.
After that next stop will be Stymfalia Lake. The Arcadian city Stymfalos used to be at the lakeside in the ancient times.According to greek mythology the famous hero Hercules killed the human-eating Stymphalian birds, doing his sixth labour and liberate the whole area from this terror.You will observe closely the ancient remainings of this city ,the beauty of the nature and the wildlife of this lake. You will also visit the extraordinary Enviroment Museum there.
As soon as we leave Stymfalia lake we will head to Feneos village. Feneos is a traditional greek village next to the beautifull lake Doxa. You will walk through this village and visit the archeological museum which exposes beautiful findings of the ancient settlement there.
After your visit in the museum we will reach Doxa Lake, a unique landscape with a fairrytale lake in the middle of the wild forest.Doxa is an artificial lake which completed in 1990 and is really popular destination for people from the capital.In the heart of the lake on a small peninsula features a small orthodox church of Agios Fanourios. You will have a lot of free time to enjoy walking and exploring the wildlife around the lake. On the weekends of the summer you can wear your swimsuit and enjoy hydrobike on the lake, an amazing experience.
After our stop to the lake we will drive to the medieval church of Saint George and admire the lake from the hill.In the meantime we will enjoy greek traditional plates in a local restaurant.
